Haleem, pressure cooker/slow cooker method

Haleem, is one of the famous dishes liked by South Asians. In the past haleem making was a long process but now with the help of kitchen aids, you can still have the same tasty haleem in less time. This was my first attempt at experimenting with haleem making this way and my mom approved the taste test. I am exaggerating but me as well as both my kids enjoyed haleem :)

So, here are the ingredients...but as a side note, you will be increasing few ingredients at the end of the process to make it according to your liking. This recipe is also from the photocopy book that I have.

Beef 1 kg-2 pounds

channa daal- 1/4 cup

maash daal- 1/4 cup

masoor daal- 1/4 cup

moong daal- 1/4 cup

arhar daal- 1/4 cup

dalia- 1/4 cup

rice 1/4 cup

1 onion big

garlic 4/5 pieces

salt 2 tbsp

red chilli powder 2 tsp

dhania powder- 1 tsp

ginger - 2 tsp

turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

green chillies 4 cut into circle shape

garam masala- 2 tsp

ghee 1/2 cup

Put all the daal and rice mixes together for boiling in the slow cooker with water. On the other hand blend the onion, ginger and garlic also. Warm up the ghee and then add meat to the pan. Cook it a bit, then add all the spices except green chillies. Then add the meat and gravy mix to the pressure cooker and cook until the meat tenderizes. Mix the meat mix to the daal mix in the slow cooker and cook everything together. To add more flavouring to the haleem you can add some chat masala/mango powder/chilli powder etc as when you add daals the flavour changes. So, to perk up the flavour you can add more masalas. (Just a side tip if you have less time on hand- you can shred meat and even use hand blender to blend the mix-*sheesh*)

Before serving you can add dried onion, garam masala, chat masala, lemon juice, green chillies cut into circles or even yogurt...infact anything you fancy.

Hope you like and enjoy this easy haleem :)
